• Thankfulness

Thanksgiving holds a special place in my heart—it’s my absolute favorite holiday. When I think back to my childhood, my memories of this day are like a warm, glowing tapestry woven with love and tradition. My mom, a quintessential southern woman from the “traditionalist generation,” poured her heart into making Thanksgiving unforgettable. She was a master of thoughtfulness, ensuring that everyone’s favorite dishes were represented on the table. I can still see her bustling around the kitchen, even as we sat down to savor the incredible feast she had already prepared, determined to add that extra touch of love.

The food was, and still is, incredible yet now with my wife at the helm. But what truly made Thanksgiving magical was its quiet power to make us pause. It was a time to reflect on the countless blessings in our lives, a moment to slow the relentless pace of life and simply feel gratitude. That tradition of counting blessings has only deepened for me as I approach six decades of life. I try to focus on what I do have—the gifts, the people, the moments—instead of dwelling on what’s missing.

This Thanksgiving, my hope for you is that you find a wellspring of gratitude in your own life. Let those feelings flow freely—express them, embrace them. So, what fills your heart with thankfulness this year? Who are the people you’re most grateful to have by your side? Let’s take this moment to celebrate the beauty in our lives.
